I just received an electronic invite to the Telluride Plein Air Festival for 2009 and thought I might want to compare my painting from last year's parade with the painting chosen for this year's parade. Maybe I'll rub my ruby slippers together and get thee yet. I see many good things in the painting selected and would like to try my hand/brush again.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you enjoy the blueberry muffin cake if you decide to try it.
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are beautiful. You're a very gifted artist.
One way to revisit is to break it down as you would if you were visiting, working in quadrants and painting small areas of the painting that you are looking to follow....I learned this from a wonderful teacher and it made so much more sense. I have always associated this with a buffet. I much prefer courses, rather than everything glommed on - so take the work apart, course by course.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
ReplyDeleteI re-looked again, the bottom work has depth and this is achieved by vertical vs. horizontal brush strokes if you look carefully - Geoffrey teaches this method and it helps to build depth and the foreshortening in a landscape to lead your eye.
I love these posts...you are on fire.
